City of Needles Marijuana Business Tax, Measure S (November 2012)
A City of Needles Marijuana Business Tax, Measure S ballot question was on the November 6, 2012, ballot for voters in the City of Needle in San Bernardino County, where it was approved.[1]
Measure S was designed to impose a tax at of up to 10 percent of gross receipts on marijuana businesses in Needles. The measure authorized the Needles City Council to set the tax rate and required an audit of the finances of the existing dispensaries in the city.

Support
Supporters of Measure S included Needles City Council member Linda Kidd. She signed the ballot argument in favor of Measure S, saying, "We don't have any ordinance on our books right now to issue them a business license that we would issue to any other business in the city."[1]
Opposition
Paul Chabot, president of the Coalition for a Drug Free California, disagreed with the idea of cities taxing medical marijuana, which was illegal under federal law. He stated, "This sends the wrong message. If adults can't say 'no,' how can kids say 'no' to this?"[1]
