City of Needles Police Feasibility Study, Measure I (November 2008)
A City of Needles Police Feasibility Study, Measure I ballot question was on the November 4, 2008 ballot for voters in the City of Needles in San Bernardino County, where it was defeated.
Measure I was about whether the City of Needles was ready for its own police department, in the judgment of local voters. At the time of the vote on Measure I, police services in Needles were operated by the San Bernardino sheriff's department; this was after the dis-establishment of a pre-existing Needles police department that was found to not be providing an acceptable level of service.
Voters in the City of Needles believed, by a 70% margin, that the City is not yet even ready to conduct a feasibility study to further consider whether Needles is ready to do its own policing.
