A City of Richmond Sales Tax, Measure U ballot question was on the November 4, 2014 election ballot for voters in the city of Richmond in Contra Costa County, California. It was approved.

Measure U authorized the city to impose a 0.5 percent sales tax, with revenue going into the city's general fund.[1]

With this Measure U tax, the total sales tax rate in the city amounted to 9 percent as of 2015. Of this total, 7.5 percent was the minimum sales tax mandated by the state, and 1 percent was imposed by the county.

The question on the ballot:[1]

Shall the City of Richmond adopt a one-half cent transactions and use (sales) tax, to fund and maintain essential city services, such as public safety, public health and wellness programs, city youth programs and street paving?[2]
