A City of Santa Barbara Utility User Tax, Measure G ballot question was on the November 4, 2008 ballot for voters in the City of Santa Barbara in Santa Barbara County, California, where it was approved.
Measure G reduced the utility tax rate from 6% to 5.75%, but applied the tax to more utilities. The net effect of decreasing the tax rate but applying it to additional services and utilities was to increase the revenues going to the City of Santa Barbara.

| MEASURE G: "Shall Santa Barbara adopt an ordinance reducing the telecommunications utility users tax from 6% to 5.75%, to fund police, fire, 911, parks/recreation, gang prevention and after school programs for at-risk youth, senior services, street repairs, public transit, and other general fund services; exempting low-income seniors; prohibiting a tax rate increase without voter approval; requiring equal treatment of taxpayers regardless of technology, annual audits, public review of expenditures and local control of all revenue?"[1] |
