A City of Santa Cruz Hotel Tax, Measure Q was on the November 6, 2012, ballot for voters in the City of Santa Cruz in Santa Cruz County, where it was approved.
Measure Q increased the lodging tax paid by those who stay at hotels, motels and other forms of transient lodging in the City of Santa Cruz by 1%, from 10% to 11%.
A simple majority vote was required for approval.

The question on the ballot:
| Measure Q: "In order to protect the quality of life in the City of Santa Cruz by supporting efforts to create jobs for local residents; investing in a vibrant local economy; and supporting police, fire, parks and recreation, and other essential city services, shall the City of Santa Cruz be authorized to augment the city’s General Fund by levying an additional tax of one percent in the Transient Occupancy Tax on people staying at local hotels and motels?"[1] |
