The following issues were listed on Van Steenwyk's campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • Agenda 21: Agenda 21 will end life as we know it. Part of the plan is to dumb down our Children, and for the most part, they’ve done an excellent job already in our schools and are now adding into the mix Common Core the newest Government plan to complete the Dumbing down of our children.
  • Radical Islams’ War Against America: More accurately, we need to form an Alliance with our True Allies in NATO, SEATO, this doesn’t include any Countries who have supported in anyway the Radical Islam Movement as all they’ve proved to us is they can’t be trusted as even Fair Weather Friends, let alone Allies. Our leaders are not taking the time to learn what Islam is about, as they keep telling us that it is a peaceful religion we will believe them. Islam is a religion and ideology all in one. The Islam religion / ideology is bent on total world domination and is willing to take the time necessary, even centuries, to bring this about.
  • Secure Veterans Benefits: No More Undeclared Wars or Nation Building, a proven failed policy as the past involvements by just observing the results for ourselves and costs to our children.
  • Illegal Aliens Securing Borders & Merit Immigration Reform: Upon the opening session of the US Senate I’ll introduce an Enforcement First Bill* that will require the immediate enforcement of all our Immigration Laws and Securing all Our Borders.
  • Protecting the Second Amendment: Right to Bear Arms, is a Fundamental God Granted Right for All Americans and this also extends to the ammunition needed for the firearms, as impossible to bear arms with no bullets, so there can be no restrictions on the Ammunition needed by the owners of the Arms to have the ability to use them, believe it’s one in the same thing.[10]

2014

Van Steenwyk's campaign website listed the following issues:[11]

  • Economy & Jobs: "We must revise our tax system to not punish those who achieve success and reward those who don’t at the expense of all of us. We must also put the Federal and hopefully all State Government on a Zero based budget rather than the Baseline Budget System now being used which just increases the budget automatically each and every year rather than going back."
  • Energy: "It’s time for us to have a real Energy Plan for the United States of America. There’s more money made by big oil from importing and not drilling than if we’d allow drilling and encourage small businesses to do the work that big oil doesn’t seem to want to do."
  • National Debt: "Every piece of legislation must have the constitution article and section cited before it leaves committee and is brought to the floor."
  • Healthcare: "Our healthcare system, abolish Obama care. As proven by the form of Healthcare in Europe and especially Canada where many of the residents there come here for care as they can’t afford to wait while their condition worsens, we don’t need this type of Healthcare in America."
  • Education: "We must close the Dept. of Education and send the job back to the states and communities where the Schools are and it belongs. This will give our citizens the ability to decide what’s best for the children in any given state, county, city or township this includes all public or private school systems which should be regulated by the individual state and not the federal government."[10]
