Claire Eagan is a federal judge on senior status with the United States District Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma. She joined the court in 2001 after being nominated by President George W. Bush (R). Eagan served as chief judge of the court from 2005 to 2012. Prior to joining the court, Eagan was a magistrate judge for the district.[1]

Eagan assumed senior status on October 1, 2022.

Education

Eagan graduated from Trinity College in Washington, D.C. with her bachelor's degree in 1972 and from Fordham University Law School with her J.D. degree in 1976.[1]

Professional career

Eagan was a law clerk to former federal judge Allen Barrow in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma from 1976 to 1978. From 1978 to 1998, Eagan was a private practice attorney in Oklahoma.[1]

Judicial career

Northern District of Oklahoma

On September 4, 2001, on the recommendation of Senators James Inhofe and Don Nickles, Eagan was nominated to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma by President George W. Bush to a seat vacated by Judge Thomas Rutherford Brett. Eagan was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on October 23, 2001, and received commission on October 24, 2001.[2] Eagan served as the chief judge of the court from 2005 to 2012.[1]

Northern District of Oklahoma, Magistrate

Eagan was a magistrate judge for the Northern District of Oklahoma from 1998 to 2001.[1]

Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court

Eagan was appointed to the United States Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court on February 13, 2013.[3]
