Funding

Shaw opted for mini reporting in this election, according to the Washington Public Disclosure Commission.[3] Candidates who opted for this had to keep a record of their contributors and expenditures, but were not required to report them. If they raised and spent more than $5,000 in aggregate or received more than $500 from any one contributor, including themselves, they would have had to switch their filing status from mini to full reporting.[4]

Shaw submitted the below statement to the Snohomish County voters' guide:[1]

This is your opportunity to vote for a “New” Board Member who will focus on core issues that will provide “excellent” results. My initial plans are to implement additional safe school policies, improve academic achievement for all students, seek additional budgetary funding streams, incentivize parent’s involvement and provide our teachers and staff with much needed resources.

The City of Marysville is trending in the right direction. An “excellent” school district will be complimentary. We all stand to benefit from “excellent” schools. Students will be better prepared for their future, homeowners will see increased property values, the local economy will improve, and our neighborhoods will see a decline in petty crime. Plus, we’ll all enjoy city-wide soaring community pride associated with an “excellent” school district.

I believe that my background and my many years of successful leadership experience will help in the efforts to transform Marysville School District into one of the very best in the state. Additionally, my zeal and enthusiasm for building an “excellent” school district is unwavering.

Please join your friends, neighbors, teachers, staff and local merchants who support my candidacy and the quest for an “excellent” school district. You may call me directly at (425) 330-0689.[5]
