Clarice is a devoted community organizer specializing in mobility justice and transportation equity. With a background in non-profit work, she is passionate about tackling inequalities that affect Black and Indigenous individuals in walking, biking, and public transportation. Running for Regional Metropolitan Transit Authority, Clarice strives to improve freedom, safety, and well-being in local mobility. Her goal is to create a public transportation network that prioritizes accessibility, inclusivity, and overall community prosperity.
  • I'm dedicated to ensuring that people of all races, ethnicities, income levels, abilities, and ages have equitable access to safe, affordable, and convenient transportation. I support mobility justice and transportation equity, focusing on expanding public transit and improving safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and public transit users. I'm committed to removing barriers by prioritizing safety, enhancing infrastructure, and exploring affordability options. Together we can create a transit system that is accessible to everyone!
  • I'm committed to ensuring that our community is deeply involved in the decision making process. I'll gather input through public surveys, community events, and social media feedback, ensuring that everyone's voice is heard. I will also advocate for researching best practices and exploring innovative solutions that can increase ridership and promote healthier communities. My vision, is to treat public transit as a vital public service, on par with police, fire, parks, and other essential services. Let's work together to create transit system that truly serves our community!
  • I will prioritize sustainable and environmentally friendly practices in our public transit system. My vision is to continue to build a transit system that minimizes pollution, promotes sustainability, and ensures long-term environmental health benefits. By treating public transit as a critical public service, I aim to align Omaha's transit system with the city's broader environmental goals.
Public policy I am personally passionate about includes affordable housing, reproductive rights, mobility justice, transportation equity, and climate action.
For me, the characteristics that are most important for an elected official include empathy—the ability to appreciate another perspective—adapt decision-making skills—the ability to make responsive and responsible decisions—and community building—the ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of individuals.
Qualities I possess that would make me a successful officeholder are being a servant leader who focuses on the growth and improvement of my entire community rather than just myself. I am an empathetic person who can understand the perspectives, feelings, and experiences of people different from me. Lastly, I am a community organizer skilled at bringing people together, identifying issues, setting goals, and advocating for change, all with a focus on fostering hope and optimism for the future.
The core responsibilities of someone elected for RMTA are policy - to create a policy that is reflective of and responsive to the needs of the community - advocacy to advocate on behalf of everyday people - funding - a fiduciary duty to ensure the continuance and growth of our transit system - partnership positive and productive partnerships on all levels within the organization and with current and new community partners.
I have been endorsed by Nebraska Public Employees Union - Local 251, The Transportation Workers Union - Local 223, and Nebraska's Democratic Party Women's Cacus
Clear expectations and accountability measures must exist in order to achieve transparency and accountability. The board is responsible for setting these expectations and accountability measures with the overall goal of the community and the organization in mind.
