Metts was a candidate for an at-large seat on the Lincoln board on November 4, 2014. She was defeated in the general election.

Four of the seven seats on the Lincoln County Schools school board were up for general election on November 8, 2016. One seat was elected at large and the other three were elected by district. Three newcomers vied for the at-large seat: Andrew Dellinger, former candidate Clarissa Metts, and Heather Rhyne. Rhyne won the seat. In her bid for re-election, District 1 incumbent Cathy Davis filed for the seat and defeated Tommy Houser. Two newcomers filed for the open District 3 seat: David Herbertson and Jeff Pariano, with Herbertson winning the seat. A sole candidate ran and won the open District 4 seat: Mark Mullen.[1][2]
