2014

Boyd's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[3]

Bringing Good Paying Jobs to Tennessee

  • Excerpt: "As a small business owner, Clark knows firsthand the importance of attracting private sector industry to Tennessee. He’ll work to cut unnecessary government regulations that stunt economic growth and will protect our low-tax, right-to-work advantage that has proven instrumental in bringing businesses to our state. Clark believes that the best ideas to spur job creation and grow our economy come from the families and small business owners of middle Tennessee–not the politicians in Nashville."

Protecting Our Second Amendment Rights

  • Excerpt: "As a veteran of the Army National Guard and US Army Reserve, Clark has a real understanding of and appreciation for firearms. He believes that every American has a constitutional right to keep and bear arms, not only for sport, but also to protect themselves and loved ones. Clark is a proud firearm owner, has a handgun carry permit and is a member of the NRA. He knows that our Second Amendment rights must be protected from government intrusion and will fight against any efforts to undermine this constitutionally protected freedom."

Reducing The Tax Burden on Families and Businesses

  • Excerpt: "Tennessee has the second lowest cost of living in the United States. That is a start, but Clark believes we can do even better. That is why he steadfastly opposes a state income tax, supports the phased repeal of the estate tax, and wants to reduce the sales tax on food. Clark will also work to provide relief from the Hall Income Tax on investments and oppose any efforts to increase the state gas tax."

Standing Up for Our Tennessee Values

  • Excerpt: "A devoted husband and father of two, Clark knows that strong families are the backbone of our state. Clark proudly supports the decision by the majority of Tennesseans who passed an amendment to the state constitution protecting traditional marriage in Tennessee and will oppose any efforts to undermine this law. Clark is 100% pro-life and will defend the rights of the unborn with his votes in the state senate."

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Tennessee

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.

Click here for an overview of legislative scorecards in all 50 states. To contribute to the list of Tennessee scorecards, email suggestions to editor@ballotpedia.org.
