Biography

Clark Craig was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He earned a high school diploma from Durango High School, and a bachelor's degree from Northeastern State University in 1991.[1]

Clark Craig is a dedicated community leader and business owner with a deep connection to the Southwestern District of Colorado. Clark moved from Oklahoma to Durango in 1968, where he was raised and graduated from Durango High School in 1984. He then attended Fort Lewis College and finished his degree with Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK where he graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics with minors in Computer Science and Music. After a career in the oil and gas industry that took Clark and his family across the U.S. and Canada, he returned to Ignacio, CO in 2017. Purchasing the family business with his wife of over 33 years that provides affordable housing for the community. He currently serves as the Mayor of Ignacio and is a board member and investor with the La Plata County Economic Alliance, Board member of the La Plata Regional Housing Alliance, Chair of Ignacio Housing Authority and La Plata County Planning Commissions and other boards. Clark’s campaign focuses on advocating for fiscal responsibility, family values, and equitable representation for all citizens in District 59.
  • Promote affordable housing, protect environmentally sensitive lands, and ensure access to quality schools and trade and vocational opportunities
  • Cut the cost of living, promote affordability by reducing property taxes and insurance costs, and repeal punitive, job-killing regulations
  • Defend our law enforcement, end policies that have reduced funding for critical safety programs, and put dangerous criminals behind bars
Our core foundation is Faith, Family and Freedom. Our personal liberties, fiscal responsibility to our citizens, prosperity and opportunities for all are values that we hold dear.
I was 10 years old. It was 1976. Colorado was celebrating 100 years of statehood.
As elected officials, we have a fundamental responsibility to the people who entrusted us with their votes—and that responsibility extends to how we manage the public's resources. We must always remember that the money we oversee is not ours, but theirs. It is our duty to use these funds in the most effective and transparent way possible, ensuring that every dollar spent works for the benefit of the community.
