Born in Nicaragua, Claudio Gutierrez moved to the United States at a very early age fleeing the oppressive leftist Sandinista regime in the early 1980s. He is an engineer and entrepreneur , having founded Valens Project Consulting in 2018. He's very active supporting non-profit organizations and charitable organizations in Houston and believes in transparency and frequent communication with his constituents.
  • I believe in a robust and well-funded police department to prevent crime.
  • I believe Houston's infrastructure has been neglected and needs to be improved.
  • I want to reduce corruption and frivolous spending by state institutions.
Crime reduction is my number one priority, followed closely by revitalizing the city's infrastructure and eliminating corruption, which is tied closely with the decaying infrastructure in Houston.
I look up to famous historical figures such as Alexander the Great, Napoleon, Winston Churchill, St. Pope John Paul II, and JFK.
Integrity, transparency, honesty, and dilligence.
I believe in personal accountability across all aspects of one's life. This extends to being open to understanding the other side and admitting mistakes.
Ability to communicate well with other lawmakers and one's constituents.
A reduction in crime and shored up infrastructure.
I remember watching the Space Shuttle accident in early 1986. I was 5 years old.

I vividly remember the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989.

I remember the capture of Manuel Noriega in January of 1990 and I remember thinking that that was the first major piece of news of the new decade.
I was 16 years old and worked at a Kodak store in Managua, Nicaragua during a summer.

I interned for Monsanto in the summer of 1998 when I was 17 and again in the summer of 1999 in The Woodlands, TX.

I worked as a design engineer for Square One Armoring Services in Miami, FL designing armor for a wide variety of vehicles destined for the Middle East and other trouble spots around the world.

I don't think it's an absolute necessity but some understanding of the workings of the government should be expected of all candidates.
Of course. That's the way to get things through votes in the House and I believe those relationships should extend to both sides of the aisle, always keeping the people's well being first and foremost.
I'm a fan of Ronald Reagan and I've recently become an admirer of President Kennedy.
Yes.
I've heard many accounts of increases in crime across my district that is one of the main reasons why I'm running for office.
Yes.
Yes. Without compromise, nothing can get accomplished. But it's important to stick to one's principles and not compromise one's moral integrity.
It would have to be a crime-related bill.

Houston used to be a very safe city and has become markedly less so in just the past couple of years.
