|He was a Classroom Science Teacher and Coach for 15 years in both public and private schools. He was the CEO of his families non profit, Christian Summer Camp - Shepherd's Fold Ranch - for 10 years. In 2012 he started a business consulting firm called The Leadership Initiative where his team coaches over 200 small, family owned businesses across the country.
Clay knows how to lead through transition - and our country and state are in great need of a transition. "We have to protect our 'Oklahoma Values' and keep the Feds and their ideology out of our state." To do this, Staires will begin his fight on four main fronts. He will support any legislation that #1. Protects our Constitution. #2. Demands Integrity in our Elections #3. Requires Trust and Transparency in our State Education Department. #4. Protects our small businesses from federal overreach and their mandates, shutdowns and deciding which businesses are essential.
Our state needs experienced leaders like Clay Staires. His experience as a business owner, ministry leader, classroom teacher and award winning coach are exactly what we need in our State Capitol right now in this hour in our history. We need a courageous fighter and a wise leader that can protect our Values!- We must first PROTECT our Oklahoma Values from the heavy influence of the liberal agenda. Embracing and defending our Constitution is paramount to this effort. Writing and supporting legislation that protects our God-given rights and nurturing of our children's' growth is first on the list. We must "secure the homefront".
- We must PURSUE EFFICIENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY in our government spending. Before we can make wise decisions about taxes, increased spending and added government programs, we must have a very clear idea of where our money is being spent and we must hold people accountable to specific outcomes. Receiving government dollars should come with an expectation of production. Which line items on our annual budget are productive and effective and which are not? It's foolish to throw money at inefficiency.
- We must PREPARE for the growing needs of the citizens in our state. Our world is expanding and there is a responsibility to our citizens to keep up with this expansion. Adding more diversity to our states anchoring industry is vital for sustainability in the future. Supporting our current small businesses that have spent years growing and supporting employment in our state is a key pillar in our advancement. Attracting new business is very important to bring more people to our state and to help keep our best and brightest from moving away, but we can't sacrifice the small businesses that have been here for years. Partnerships and Mentorships can be developed between large and small businesses to benefit everyone.

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
