Cleopatra Campbell is the chief judge of the Orphans Court of Frederick County in Frederick County, Maryland.[1] She was elected to the court on November 2, 2010, and assumed office on December 13, 2010.[2] Campbell ran for re-election to the Orphans Court of Frederick County in 2014, winning a term that expired on December 31, 2018.[3][4]

Primary: She was successful in the Republican primary on June 24, 2014, receiving 23.0 percent of the vote. She competed against Jimmy W. Trout, Buzz Working, and incumbent Judge Adrian Remsberg. Primary candidates competed for 3 seats. 
General: She faced James Edward French, Bonnie L. Nicholson, Janis Judson, Jimmy W. Trout, and incumbent Judge Adrian Remsberg in the general election on November 4, 2014, and won with 20.1 percent of the vote. Candidates competed for three open seats. [3][5] 

2010

Campbell was elected to the Orphans Court of Frederick County along with Mike Cady and Adrian Remsberg with 19.92 percent of the vote in the general election on November 2, 2010.[6]

Career

Campbell is a former assistant state's attorney for Frederick County.[7] She is one of the first two women to practice law in the state of Maryland, along with Mary Storm. Both women were admitted to the state bar in 1967. Campbell's first legal job was at the firm Mathias, Mathias, and Michel.[8]
