Cliff is a small business owner, husband, and father. He's running for State Senate so he can advocate for educational and community programs, from universal pre-K, to after school programs, as well as elder care, so families can fully take part in their communities and their local economy. He wants to fund important programs like these by legalizing, taxing, and regulating cannabis and industrial hemp production. He supports giving Arkansas farmers the freedom to invest in these rapidly growing economies.
  • Our state needs to provide safe, affordable Pre-K programs and after school programs.
  • We need to ensure our elderly citizens have access to home care in a safe and consistent way.
  • Legalizing, taxing and regulating adult use cannabis, as well as industrial hemp production is a huge job and revenue creator for Arkansas.
The most important public policy issue is criminal justice reform. We are locking up too many citizens because they do not have adequate access to proper legal representation.
I would recommend the book The New Jim Crow by Michelle Alexander, 10th Anniversary Edition for an insight to my political philosophy.
Honesty, integrity and the ability to see your own limitations are most important for an elected official.
The art of listening is the most important characteristic an elected official can have. I have the ability to listen with empathy and see the issues others may be dealing with without judgement.
The core responsibilities of any elected official are to listen and act for the best good of the citizens that elected you.
The governor is tasked with guiding the legislature in law making to ensure compliance with the state and federal constitution. The governor is given the power of a veto to ensure proper laws are passed.
The greatest challenge Arkansas faces over the next decade is to provide access to the ballot box.
Previous experience in government or politics has been over emphasized in the past. Most voters want a candidate that is not beholden to any previous government entity or political party.
It is very important to build relationships with other legislators of all political parties. We must use government to do the most good for the most people. Without knowing other legislators and the issues of their districts we cannot provide the best government.
Redistricting is one of the most mismanaged and corrupt processes in our government. 21st century technology allows for fair, and consistent redistricting. A non partisan board should be in charge of redistricting with federal oversight.
My state senate district is predominantly agriculturally based and tourism based. Those committees are important to me.
Emergency powers should be overseen by the legislative body.
Compromise in government is the cornerstone of our democracy.
