Clinton Central School new construction referendum (2009)
A Clinton Central School new construction referendum was on the February 3, 2009 ballot in Clinton County in the Clinton Central School District[1]
- Yes: 219 (14%)
- No: 1,327 (86%)
[2]
Voters in the district had the choice whether to approve a $22.5 million budget for renovation and repairs to the elementary and neighboring high school. The total includes $4.5 million for an auditorium.
The vote took place because of an Indiana law that says that school district property taxpayers get to vote on whether or not to sponsor multi-million dollar building projects. Ballot measures are required if project costs are expected to exceed property tax caps imposed by the state.[3]
