The Coalition of Asian Pacific Americans for Fair Redistricting (CAPAFR) is a nonpartisan coalition advocating for Asian-American and Pacific Islander communities in relation to redistricting in California.
Mission
CAPAFR lists is goals as submitting "a statewide assembly map and a statewide state senate map that secure new district lines that provide fair representation for Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. Through the redistricting process, CAPAFR hopes to promote community empowerment."[1]
History
CAPAFR was originally formed in 1990 in order to participate in the 1991 redistricting. Since then it has expanded from its focus on Los Angeles and San Francisco to also include the nine counties of Alameda, Fresno, Los Angeles, Orange, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara.[1]
