Chock was a nonpartisan candidate for District 51 of the Hawaii House of Representatives in 2018. To advance to the general election, Hawaii election law requires nonpartisan candidates in partisan races to receive at least 10% of the votes cast for the office or to receive a vote total equal to or greater than the lowest vote total of a winning partisan candidate. Chock did not meet that threshold.[1][2]

I am running for the State House of Representatives to end chronic homelessness in our state, to increase our renewable energy capacity, to look out for our kamaaina and working-class families, and to make living in Hawaii an option for future generations of young people.
- I will work towards ensuring we have affordable housing and opportunities for our younger generations so that living in Hawaii is an option. I will do this by continuing to develop affordable housing and also finding innovative ways to prevent foreign investors from buying investment properties that could otherwise house local families.
- I will ensure that we are on 100% renewable energy by 2045 by working with other legislators to get the annual budget we need to keep this goal on track. We need to be creative and diversify the types of renewable energy we are implementing and at the same time, work with our communities toward accomplishing this goal with the utmost respect for the people it will be affecting.
- Homelessness is a multifaceted issue and as such we need to take a multifaceted approach to fix the issue. We need an all-encompassing plan to support nonprofits while also developing stronger mental health institutions and drug rehabilitation centers. We also need to ensure we support our social workers and hire more social workers to facilitate this process and get more of our homeless community in housing. Permanent solutions are always the goal which is why it is also necessary to ensure that we continue to build more affordable housing and create more local jobs so we can get people back on their feet.
