Coby Waddill
Coby Waddill (Republican Party) is a judge for Number 5 of the Denton County Criminal Court at Law Texas. He assumed office in 2014. His current term ends on December 31, 2026.
Waddill (Republican Party) won re-election for the Number 5 judge of the Denton County Criminal Court at Law Texas outright after the general election on November 8, 2022, was canceled.

Waddill ran for election to the Denton County Criminal Court.
Primary: He was successful in the Republican primary on March 4, 2014, receiving 63.5 percent of the vote. He competed against Vic Rivera.
General: He won without opposition in the general election on November 4, 2014.

Education
Waddill received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Texas in 1994. He later earned his J.D. from St. Mary's University School of Law in 1999.[4][5]
Career
At the time of his candidacy, Waddill was an attorney in private practice, specializing in criminal defense.[4] He is a former partner with the firm of Marsh, Paine & Waddill, P.C. In addition, Waddill previously worked as a prosecutor.[4]

Qualifications
To serve on a county court, a judge must:[6]
- be at least 25 years old;
- be a resident of his or her respective county for at least two years; and
- have practiced law or served as a judge for at least four years preceding the election.
