This measure sought to add to the current school levy by a rate of $.41 per $100 of assessed property value for a period of five years in order to further help avoid an operations deficit in the school district.[2]

The question on the ballot:
| Shall a levy be imposed by the Coldwater Exempted Village School District for the purpose of AVOIDING AN OPERATING DEFICIT in the sum of $550,000 per year, and a levy of taxes to be made outside of the ten-mill limitation estimated by the county auditor to average four and ten-hundredths mills (4.1) for each dollar of valuation, which amounts to forty-one cents ($0.41) for each one hundred dollars of valuation, for a period of five (5) years, commencing in 2012, first due in calendar year 2013?[3] |
