Colette Routel
Colette Routel is a judge for Position 38 of the Minnesota Fourth Judicial District. She assumed office on September 1, 2021. Her current term ends on January 1, 2029.
Routel ran for re-election for the Position 38 judge of the Minnesota Fourth Judicial District. She won in the general election on November 8, 2022.
Routel was appointed to the court by Governor Tim Walz (D) on July 29, 2021, to replace Kathleen D. Sheehy, who retired on September 1, 2021.[1][2]
Education
Routel received a bachelor's degree from Ithaca College and a J.D. from the University of Michigan in 1998 and 2001, respectively.[3]
Career
Prior to her judicial appointment, Routel was a law professor at the Mitchell Hamline School of Law and co-director of the Native American Law & Sovereignty Institute. She also served as counsel at Hogen Adams, PLLC and as an appellate judge for the White Earth Band of Ojibwe.[1]
