|- Madison is facing a housing shortage. In order to keep up with population growth and provide access to safe, affordable housing, we need to enact policies that increase the housing supply.
- In order to make Downtown Madison safe for residents, students, and visitors, we need to make sure our streets are safe. New streets upgrades should be designed to discourage reckless driving, increase safety for pedestrians, and encourage the use of bicycles and other modes of travel. Making streets safer will make downtown safer and more vibrant and get us closer to climate goals with fewer cars on the road.
- District 2 is the most dense district in Madison. As we pursue increases in the housing supply, we must work to defend our historical landmarks and historical district. This is as important for tourists as it is for neighbors. Smart development is not at odds with preserving the unique character of our neighborhood.
To make housing accessible, I support first month rental assistance for eligible tenants. To support stable housing, I support a tenant's right to counsel. Both of these proposals have proven successful in other parts of the country, and it's that we bring them home to Madison.
