I am a small business owner and new to politics, not a career politician. I want to apply common sense to solve problems, and generally take a libertarian approach to government: less is more and local is better. I am a new generation republican and want to bring new energy and ideas to the party. For example, legalize and sensibly regulate marijuana. We can learn from all the successes and failures in the medical and recreational programs already in place throughout the country, and provide support for small business, generate tax revenue, and provide additional medical options for adults while keeping our community safe. For more examples and information on my platform, check out https://www.colinforjax.com.

  • Focus on education, higher quality and more options

Protecting constitutional and individual freedoms.
I look up to MLK Jr. and his vision for a colorblind and equitable American society, as well as his steadfast belief in non violent political advocacy.

-Being honest and transparent
- A willingness to think outside the box and reach across the aisle.

-Being honest and transparent.
Having been an accurate representative of my fellow constituents.
My very first job was teaching martial arts and high school diving for a couple years.
1984- by George Orwell.
I have always loved diving and aquatics, so Aquaman is an easy choice.
A badly broken leg which changed my athletic and career path.
The most important difference is the size of the districts between the Florida house and senate, which naturally provide a similar structure of checks and balances that we see in our federal house and senate.
Previous experience can be helpful in some ways, but in most cases the disadvantages outweigh those benefits, where career politicians become too familiar with special interests, and forget how to accurately represent their own constituents.
Maintaining our growing economy, to provide well paying jobs and long term career paths in this time of changing technology and industry.

Providing higher quality education and more school choice for our students and parents, and to ensure that taxpayer funds earmarked follow the students and not special interests.

Protecting our rights and individual freedoms recognized in the Constitution.
An open and transparent relationship that results in effective checks and balances.
I believe it's beneficial to work together to achieve bipartisan solutions, but with full transparency to my constituents. Back-room deals should not be part of politics.
I favor a more localized process for redistricting, where decisions on boundaries are made at a state or local level, so that they more directly reflect those affected. Gerrymandering is an issue in this process, and so more transparency is recommended.
Yes, whichever committees would allow me to best serve my constituents.
I had a particularly memorable conversation while meeting one of my fellow constituents at a local small business. She shared my concerns about the failures in our educational system and inherent corruptions of the system in place, but had an especially unique point of view having been a teacher herself in Jacksonville for over a decade.
