The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 3, 2014. Gil Riviere was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Richard Lee Fale defeated Norman Kaaipohaku J. Brown and Colleen Meyer in the Republican primary. Riviere defeated Fale in the general election.[2][3][4]
