Colorado Authorize Local Charter Control of School Governance Initiative was on the ballot as an initiated constitutional amendment in Colorado on November 5, 1912. It was defeated.

A "yes" vote supported this ballot initiative to:

  • give the City and County of Denver full authority to define the structure, powers, and responsibilities of its school district (District No. 1) through the city charter;
  • permit other home-rule cities to similarly govern their schools by charter provisions; and
  • allow public playgrounds, recreation centers, public baths, libraries, and similar facilities to be considered part of the school system.

A "no" vote opposed this ballot initiative, thereby requiring Denver’s school district (District No. 1) to be governed by a board of education selected according to general state school laws.
