Party rules and bylaws

The state party is governed by a set of rules and bylaws. Typically, these give structure to the different levels of organization—local, county, and state committees—and establish protocol for electing committee members. The bylaws also typically give details on the party's process for nominating the party's candidates for office. The following is a summary of the Colorado Forward Party's rules. This summary focuses on the structure and governance of the party:[6]

  • The Colorado Forward Party Executive Committee is the central governing body of the state party. It may call state conventions, set procedures for representation and create subcommittees for specific projects and appoint supporters/members to them
  • The committee must file bylaw amendments with the Colorado Secretary of State within 15 days of adoption
  • Nominating conventions are held every two years in the even numbered years
