The terms of two Colorado Court of Appeals justices expired on January 11, 2021. The two seats were up for retention election on November 3, 2020. A full term on the court is eight years.

Selection

Colorado Court of Appeals judges are appointed by the governor from a list of names compiled by a nominating commission. Initial terms last at least two years, after which judges must stand for retention in yes-no elections. Subsequent terms last eight years.[1]
The court's chief judge is appointed by the chief justice of the supreme court to serve indefinitely.[1]
Qualifications
To serve on this court, a judge must be:
- a qualified elector in Colorado
- licensed to practice law in Colorado for five years
- under the age of 72 (retirement by 72 is mandatory)[1]
