Colorado judges rules against Secretary of State's requested injunction

Colorado: Even inactive voters will receive ballots for this year's election, since Judge Brian Whitney's denial of an injunction requested by the Colorado Secretary of State. Scott Gessler had requested the injunction in Denver County, following a reinterpretation of state election law pertaining to sending ballots to voters deemed inactive. At this point, an inactive voter is one that did not vote in 2010 or since.[1]
Colorado counties regularly mail ballots to all registered voters, regardless of the last time they participated in an election. One of the reasons is their interest in increasing voter participation. [2]
At least 50,000 voters in Denver County alone will receive ballots due to Whitney's decision. However, the Secretary of State has sued the county, later joined by Pueblo County, in a case that still must be settled.[3]
