Colorado sued over water rights
March 4, 2010
Colorado: On Monday, March 1, senior water-rights owners in La Plata County filed a lawsuit against the state saying that it is not doing enough to protect them from gas and oil companies. The complaint comes from gas and oil companies practice of removing water from the ground after digging wells and the state engineer's adoption of rules that exclude many companies from the regulations required by the Colorado Supreme Court.[1]
