Candidate Connection

Colton Thornton completed Ballotpedia's Candidate Connection survey in 2019. The survey questions appear in bold and are followed by Thornton's responses.

What would be your top three priorities, if elected?

1. Medicaid Expansion 2. Fully funding MAEP/Teacher pay raise 3. Rebuilding crumbling infrastructure

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Voting rights- I'm passionate about voting rights because I believe it's the most important issue of them all. All other issues are better addressed when we have an active voting population.

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

Accessibility and transparency are the two most important traits an elected official can have.

What do you perceive to be your state’s greatest challenges over the next decade?

We have to end the brain drain that is occurring in our state. It is a serious threat to the future of our state economy and our rural communities.

What process do you favor for redistricting?

I support the drawing of districts by non-partisan committees to eliminate gerrymandering.
