[1]
This measure sought to enact an ordinance within the city which would ban the use of tasers by the police or anyone within city limits. This measure was brought forth by a petition drive by citizens and because the council did not adopt the proposed ordinance, it was sent to the November ballot. Misuse of the weapons as well as possible lawsuits from victims led to the petition drive by residents in the city.[2]
