Commission recommends ways to cut New Hampshire judicial budget
January 19, 2011
New Hampshire: In June 2010, the New Hampshire Supreme Court formed the Judicial Branch Innovation Commission. The Commission brought together members of the state business community, legislative leaders and the National Center for the State Courts to find ways to improve New Hampshire's judicial branch.[1]
The first of those recommendations has been released by Chief Justice Linda Dalianis. Currently, there are four levels of trial courts in the state. The commission suggests combining the Probate Court, District Court and Family Division into one Circuit Court, in a move to cut costs and facilitate court operations.[2]
