Connecticut: Judge E. Michael Heffernan of the West Haven Probate Court has announced his plans to step down and retire at the end of his current term. His term ends in January 2011 and will retire after having served on the court for 32 years. Chief Clerk of the West Haven Probate court had this to say about Judge Heffernan, "He not only possesses the important qualities of a judge — honesty, integrity, fairness — but on top of that he has compassion."[1]
