The Connecticut lieutenant gubernatorial election of 2010 was held on November 2, 2010 following a primary election on August 10, 2010.[1] Polling hours are 6:00 am until 8:00 pm on all election days.
After an initial challenge from the GOP, Democrat Nancy Wyman and her running mate, Dan Malloy, were sworn in on January 5, 2011.
Connecticut is one of 6 states that elects a governor and lt. governor on a shared ticket in the general election. However, candidates for lt. governor run separate primary campaigns. Following the primary, Dan Malloy and Nancy Wwman on the Democratic ticket faced Republicans Tom Foley and Mark Boughton.
July 6 was the deadline for filing nominating signatures. Voters had until noon the day before the primary and until close-of-business seven days before the general election to register to vote in the respective elections.
Candidates for statewide office, including the lieutenant governor's seat, competed for party endorsement at assemblies held May 4-25, 2010. To continue on to the primary, a candidate must receive at least 15% of her party's vote and file proof of such with the Secretary of State by 4:00 pm the 14th day after the assembly. For the 2010 cycle, the deadline to file primary petitions was between May 18 and June 8, 2010, depending on the day of the district assembly.
