Shaw ran for election to the Howard County Justice Court.
Primary: She was successful in the Republican primary on March 4, 2014, receiving 37 percent of the vote. She competed against Janice Bishop, Linda Halfmann, Phillip Reid and Sally Grant.Because no candidate received more than 50 percent of the vote, Shaw faced Reid in a runoff election on May 27, 2014.[1][2][3]
