Connor Mulvaney is a Brookline resident running for Pittsburgh City Council District 4 as the Green Party candidate in the November 2021 General Election. He is a bike technician and has previously worked as a union baker, a photojournalist, and a cross country coach. Having worn many hats and studied sustainable development, he understands the challenges that the 21st century poses to working people in Pittsburgh. He is a cofounder of the public safety and transit advocacy organization South Hills Safe Streets and previously worked on Re-Imagine Beaver County, an initiative that planned long term sustainability measures in economic and social development.
  • Connor is not independently wealthy or connected to Pittsburgh's elite political establishment.
  • Our campaign does not accept monetary contributions from corporations or political action committees. We believe private industry and wealthy individuals have too much influence over city government and want to give working Pittsburghers a voice in government.
  • District 4 residents deserve a candidate that can ensure basic needs and services are reliably provided by the city and that decision-making isn't consistently made behind constituents' backs. Connor for Council is dedicated to making sure everyday Pittsburghers have a voice in policy-making.
I am particularly passionate about mobility and access to food, housing, healthcare, and jobs. All can be made more accessible with reinvestment in infrastructure that supports public transit and low-carbon mobility.

Two of the most important jobs of City Council are creating laws and setting the city budget. Budgets are perhaps the most important as they are essentially moral documents that should reflect the shared values of a community. Though, too often city residents are left out of this process and we end up with a budget that has little or no bearing on what they want. The whole point of having a city government is to have an institution that ensures the population's needs and rights are met and protected. As long as budgets are initiated and designed by a few individuals monetarily influenced by wealthy private interests, the needs of the community are going to be poorly managed.
