Constance Gadell-Newton (Green Party) ran for election for Governor of Ohio. She lost in the general election on November 6, 2018.

She ran on a joint ticket with the lieutenant gubernatorial nominee, Brett Joseph (L).

Gadell-Newton was a 2016 Green candidate for District 18 of the Ohio House of Representatives.[1]

Gadell-Newton graduated from Bishop Watterson High School in 1998. She received her B.A. in philosophy and women's studies from Ohio State University in 2002 and graduated from Penn State Dickinson School of Law in 2008 with a focus on international law. She has worked as an attorney in private practice since 2010.[2]

2016

Gadell-Newton issued the following statement regarding her priorities if elected:

  • Pro-choice, protect reproductive freedoms.
  • Protect Ohio’s clean water and wild life.
  • Focus on mental health and addiction services.
  • Decriminalize marijuana at the State level, to be regulated by existing State agencies such as the Dept. of Commerce and Dept. of Agriculture.
  • Raise minimum wage and invest in workers.
  • Equality and justice for all people regardless of sex, sexual orientation, race, gender, or religion.
  • Bring back incentives for Green energy in Ohio.
  • Encourage small business ownership and entrepreneurship.
