Coretta Mallet-Fontenot (Democratic Party) ran for election to the Texas State Board of Education to represent District 4. Mallet-Fontenot lost in the Democratic primary runoff on May 24, 2022.

Mallet-Fontenot was a candidate for the District 9 seat on the Houston Independent School Board. She lost election of the seat to challenger Wanda Adams on November 5, 2013. Longtime incumbent Lawrence Marshall chose not to seek re-election of his seat.

Biography

Coretta Mallet-Fontenot graduated from S. F. Austin High School. Mallet-Fontenot earned a B.S. in elementary education and an M.S. in secondary education from Texas Southern University. Her career experience includes working as an instructional aide with J.R. Reynolds Elementary School and a teacher and English department chairperson with W.S. Holland Middle School.[1]
