Corey Piper was a 2016 Republican candidate for District 11 of the Colorado House of Representatives.

Campaign themes

2016

Piper's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Job Creation

Job creation should be our number one priority. If we can't get our financial house in order, then how can we possibly take care of the people who need help? It may sound trite, but the only way to create jobs is for private property to be protected from gov't overreach, and for us to throw off the shackles of oppressive regulations.

Health Insurance

The so-called "affordable" health care act is decidedly unaffordable. It's cleverly named, though, because who can argue against making healthcare more affordable? I certainly can't. I think healthcare should be decidedly more affordable, but it is patently clear that Obamacare is raising the price on all of us. He didn't design a solution, he aggravated the problem.

Fearsome Fracking

People seem to be terrified of hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling in spite of the fact that fracturing has been around for over a hundred years, and that the modern version has been around since the 90's. Fracking is being done responsibly and safely (Weld County citizens are not burning up or asphyxiating), and yet there is still an inordinate amount of fear surrounding it. Well, cheer up! What you are about to read ought to allow you to breathe easy and even feel a little bit of pride.

Cannabis Rex

We have been facing an interesting phenomenon over the past four years since Marijuana was legalized in Colorado: Don't mess with Cannabis Rex or you'll get chomped. Well, heaven forbid that I get eaten alive by a large dinosaur with the munchies, but I would just like to say a couple of thoughtful, sane things regarding this issue: 1) It's illegal for people under 18, and 2) It's dangerous to drive under its influence.[1]
