Corey Stottlemyer
Corey Stottlemeyer was a 2014 Republican candidate for District 3 of the Maryland State Senate.[1] He is an economist and senior policy analyst for the Maryland Department of Transportation, Office of Planning and Capital Programming.[2] He was mentioned as part of the "Influencers 500" list produced by Campaigns & Elections Magazine in 2013 (according to Campaigns & Elections, the list "is a collection of some of the top names in the consulting business state by state").[3]
Career
Corey Stottlemyer attended Washington College from 1994 to 1998, and he served as a legislative assistant for the Maryland General Assembly while studying there. He received a B.A. in economics and political science in 1998.[2]
After graduating, Stottlemyer worked as an administrator for the Hagerstown-Washington County Economic Development Commission and then as a research assistant for Johns Hopkins Institute for Policy Studies and Maryland Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO). From August to December 2001, he served as teaching assistant at Johns Hopkins University, and he received his Master of Public Policy from the university in 2002.[2]
Stottlemyer became legislative director for the Maryland General Assembly a year later, and worked for there until 2006. He founded a public affairs consulting firm called Core Strategies, Inc. in 2007.[2][4]. A year later, he returned to the Maryland General Assembly and worked as a legislative analyst.[2]
In 2010, Stottlemyer joined JDRF, a nonprofit organization that aims to address Type 1 diabetes with a strategic research plan, as development and outreach manager. He worked at JDRF for two years and then became senior economic associate at REMI, a group that works on economic policy.[2][5][6]
Stottlemyer challenged incumbent Ron Young as a Republican candidate in the race for Maryland State Senate District 3.[7][8]
In September 2015, Stottlemyer started work as senior policy analyst for the Maryland Department of Transportation, Office of Planning and Capital Programming. He is also a member of the National Economists Club as well as the National Association for Business Economics as of December 2015, and he still serves as president of Core Strategies, Inc.[2]

Elections for the Maryland State Senate took place in 2014. A primary election took place on June 24, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was February 25, 2014. Incumbent Ronald Young was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Corey Stottlemyer was unopposed in the Republican primary. Young defeated Stottlemyer in the general election.[1][9][10]
