At 17, Corey joined the Marine Corps, and received many awards for his service in Iraq. Since his service in the Marine Corps, Corey has been elected as a State Representative as well as a City Councilor for the City of Augusta. In 2014, he earned an MBA from Southern New Hampshire University. For seven years, Corey worked in multiple management positions for the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Aside from serving his Country and Community, he is married to Sarah Wilson, is the father to Kenna Wilson, and stepfather to Ethan and Daniel. He is also a small-business owner, owning Wilson's Recreation - a full-service powersports and trailer dealership.
Corey knows what servant leadership is – he is an experienced leader at a time when experience matters. If you are ready for a new direction, vote Corey Wilson in November.- Energy: We must lower the cost of electricity. I have been leading a group of energy experts and lawmakers to develop a plan to significantly lower the costs of electricity. We will work to bring more supply to Maine — more hydro, more natural gas, invest in biomass plants, and we will create and fund a cabinet-level position for energy charged with long-term planning to ensure we meet the long-term energy needs for Mainers.
- Addiction: Overdoses are at an all-time high, yet we are be doing little to address it. My own family, like so many others, has been hit very hard by addiction. We must make this a priority. I will continue working with a broad coalition of people — law enforcement, courts, treatment providers, legislators, and recovering addicts. We are crafting a plan that will increase funding for programs to treat addiction — mark my words that we will get it done.
- Taxes: We must lower taxes and reduce spending. Out of control spending has driven Inflation to record highs, while taxation to cover these costs are at an all-time high. Lowering taxes is critical to protect our most vulnerable populations. When elected, I will propose a bill to eliminate income taxes on all retirement income. Our seniors have paid enough - they deserve a break.
1. Increase Hydropower in Maine.
2. Remove the 100 Megawatt (MW) Cap on Hydro in the Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS).
3. Rate Restructuring: We must ensure everyone shares in T&D costs.
4. Increase Biomass Cogeneration.
5. Create a Cabinet Level Energy Office .
I suppose I miss this time of my life - not the war, but the feeling that our country was united against a common enemy.
2. Energy: We have a shortage of electricity supply in Maine and we have high energy costs for heating homes and businesses. We must reduce the cost of energy if we ever hope to increase manufacturing in Maine - something that must be done to ensure good paying jobs.
