My name is Corina Soto and I am running for the Southwestern College Governing Board (SWCGB) Trustee Area 4. this is the first time that the SWCGB is having district elections as opposed to city-wide elections. I have worked at SWC for 32 years as a Counselor and Professor. During that time period, I have been involved in both local and statewide leadership positions on and off campus. My education and long-term experience have given me the insight to make wise decisions for all of the students that attend SWC. I am a very honest, straightforward, and transparent leader. As a counselor and professor, I have been dedicated to student success.
  • My first goal is to increase fiscal accountability and to bring the focus of the college back to student outreach, student services and student success.
  • My second goal is to improve communication and colloboration between the different campus constituency groups in order to better serve students.
  • My third goal is to multiply SWC college student graduation rates, career and technical program participation, and student transfer rates.
I am very invested in increasing participation in higher education. I have witnessed the transformation that happens in the lives of students and in the lives of their families as students learn, grow, and then soar. SWC is located in the South Bay of San Diego County and our community members and their families deserve to have the opportunities that pursuing job training or pursuing a Bachelor's Degree or higher.can bring them. Please honor me with your vote. Together, we can create a vital, energized and exciting educational experience for SWC college students.
