John Mazurek (Democratic Party, Independent Party) (also known as Corky) ran for election to the Connecticut House of Representatives to represent District 80. He lost in the general election on November 3, 2020.

Mazurek is a former Democratic member of the Connecticut House of Representatives, representing District 80 from 2003 to 2011.

Mazurek was a 2014 Democratic candidate for District 80 of the Connecticut House of Representatives. He lost the general election on November 4, 2014. Mazurek also ran unsuccessfully for District 16 of the Connecticut State Senate in 2012.[1]

Mazurek's professional experience included working as an engineer with Pratt and Whitney. He was involved with many organizations including Citizens Against Substance Abuse, Connecticut Red Cross, Connecticut Special Olympics, Easter Seal Camp Hemlocks, Waterbury 265 Elks Lodge, Toys for Tots, Wolcott High School Post Prom Party, Wolcott Police Drug and Alcohol Resistance Education Program, and the Walcott Special Olympics.[2]

Elections for the Connecticut House of Representatives consisted of a primary election on August 12, 2014, and a general election on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 10, 2014. Corky Mazurek was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while incumbent Rob Sampson was unopposed in the Republican primary. Sampson defeated Mazurek in the general election.[3][4]

Mazurek ran in the 2012 election for Connecticut State Senate District 16. Mazurek ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on August 14, 2012. He was defeated by incumbent Joe Markley (R) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[1][5][6]

Mazurek ran for re-election to the 80th District seat in 2010. He was defeated by Robert C. Sampson (R) in the November 2 general election.

2008

On November 4, 2008, Mazurek won re-election to the Connecticut House of Representatives from Connecticut's 80th District, defeating James Farrell (Concerned Citizens) and Samuel Zotto (petitioning candidate). Mazurek received 8,130 votes in the election while Farrell received 984 votes, and Zotto received 940 votes.[7] Mazurek raised $29,279 for his campaign.[8]
