I'm a lifelong rural Arkansan who graduated from public school in the Arkansas Delta. I've lived in Garland County for ten years with my husband and daughter. Drawn by its beauty, we now live in Royal. I'm running because I believe in investing in our future and in holding our elected officials accountable. I believe in access to healthcare and that banning books is wrong.
  • Arkansans deserve to know how our money is being spent. Yet during the recent special session the taxpayers paid for, the Republican Supermajority in this state worked to protect their leaders engaged in wrong-doing rather than the interests of Arkansans. They also attacked our freedom to know what what going on within the government that we pay for. The only way to stop this is to oppose these types of politicians is to run and vote against them in our elections. With no one to oppose them, they automatically get the job, no matter how they act or vote.
  • Arkansas is a bad place to be sick or have a baby. Why? Around 71 percent of our rural hospitals are operating in the red. If they close, it will leave many Arkansans without health care. We have the second highest infant mortality in the nation. Deaths of mothers is equally unacceptable. Under Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ administration, hundreds of thousands of eligible people were dropped from their health insurance. If you don’t have money to pay a doctor, you can’t be seen and your health risks increase. We should: Expand access to affordable healthcare Fund rural hospitals Write in exceptions to our extreme abortion ban for rape, incest, and health of the mother.
  • Public libraries are vital hubs for education, information, and connection. From early literacy programs to job search assistance, public libraries empower individuals of all ages and backgrounds. They provide access to knowledge, foster creativity, and promote lifelong learning. At the core of their mission lies a commitment to free speech. Public libraries stand as bastions of intellectual freedom, offering a sanctuary where diverse voices can be heard. In an era of misinformation and polarization, these institutions remain steadfast in their dedication to open dialogue, critical thinking, and democratic values. As your representative, I pledge unwavering support for our Garland County Library and all public libraries.
I am very passionate about our environment and keeping Arkansas beautiful for years to come.

Additionally, we need to address pet overpopulation by giving our shelters more resources and removing the barriers to spay & neuter.

I am also passionate about healthcare, education, renters' rights and affordable housing.
A strict commitment to integrity. Ive studied ethics in public administration & am aware of how to stick to the highest ethical standards.
The core responsibilities of elected officials is integrity, and finding solutions where our state is failing.
It is difficult to say. I have been a fan of the Lord of the Rings for most of my life. However, sometimes my favorite book is whichever I happen to be reading!
Yes, the lack of housing has been very impactful as well as the price of groceries. On my first day, I will introduce a bill to eliminate the taxes of groceries, period products, and diapers, to make the necessities more affordable.
I would introduce exceptions for rape, incest and health of the mother into the legislature. I would also introduce bills that eliminate the used car tax, and the taxes on groceries, period products, and diapers.
Recommended by the Arkansas Education Association, Run For Something, and Progressive Arkansas Women.
I only support the removing the unconstitutional change the legislature recently changed that greatly increased the number of counties the signatures had to reach a threshhold in.

I am a lifelong Arkansan, proudly educated here. My college education has centered on government and policy. That education has prepared me to understand the problems we face and the policy challenges it creates. I am ready to compromise, write, advocate and pass the polices we need to move Arkansas forward. Many Arkansans are still without broadband, many of our roads are unsafe to drive on, we have a shortage of doctors and teachers, and many of our children go to bed hungry. And there is no reason for any of it. Arkansas is a beautiful state, but our statistics are ugly. I am running because I know government can create problems, but it can also be a tool to solve them. I love our state; my family lives here. They need a state government that works for them, not just the buddies of elected officials. I am Cortney McKee and I'm running for state senate district six.
  • We need to recycle more, and waste less. I want to focus our recycling efforts on those with the biggest net reduction in carbon. Recycling is a skill we should be teaching our children as well as it will become increasingly important in their lifetime.
  • We have a teacher shortage. Our surrounding states all pay teachers a much higher teacher salary. Making about 30 percent less than other jobs requiring four year degrees does not send the message we value education. They have earned the raise, all picking up slack from the ongoing shortage in the field.
  • We also have a shortage of doctors, creating a healthcare system below that of many other states. We have to renegotiate medicaid reimbursements and make college more affordable and more desirable in the state to attract and retain medical students and doctors. More doctors make it easier, and quicker to be seen by a doctor. I think the COVID pandemic really highlighted that.
I'm a lifelong advocate for the environment. That said, my higher education has centered on policy and the process. Education policy, community development, equity in policy, environmental regulation, healthcare, welfare, economic policy and fair taxation are some of the policy areas I enjoyed studying when obtaining my masters in Public Administration.
Integrity and knowledge, which is why I am the correct candidate.
