Campaign themes

Reynolds submitted the following statement to Ballotpedia regarding his political positions:[1]

Fiscal Issues: "The new republican is a fiscal conservative who is socially tolerant. Both in our personal lives as well as our professional ones, it is preferred to spend within or beneath our means in order to save for the future, or a specified goal. The state should be doing the same thing: saving for the future during the year and returning surplus. The state should also be lowering property taxes in the event of a surplus, after balancing the budget. If we do not have the money to spend, we should not spend it. It is not a matter of whether or not more can be taken from the populace or more handed out by the federal government; you cannot spend what you do not have. Our statehouse should not be saying we need more money when they do not spend what they are given wisely. What we need to do is look at where we are spending money and getting no return from it. Where we can cut, we should, to either lower the burden on our citizens by reducing taxes, or using the surplus funds to pursue avenues which will put NH ahead of the rest of the country, and build a better future. We cannot count on the overbearing federal government to fix everything, especially today; and nor should we. Now more than ever it is important for NH to be independent and self-reliant."

Abortion: "The protection of life is vital to the advancement of our species. Every generation has its geniuses and the more of us there are the more opportunities for such a person to flourish there are. To be pro choice is to have a choice in what you do with your own body and that is all fine and well. However, the body inside is not yours to toy with. While a child may develop inside of its mother, they are not one entity, and the mother should not have the choice to murder an innocent life before it is given the opportunity to live outside the womb. In situations where there is rape or incest it is perfectly acceptable to go to the doctor soon after and get a shot of estrogen and prevent the development of a child altogether. If, in fact, a child is born and brought to term, there are plenty of families unable to have a child who would love to have children. For those who never find a real home, they stand a better chance at life in an orphanage than they would if they were aborted."

Live Free or Die: "Liberty is the ability for you to live your natural and un-coerced existence given to you by your creator. Throughout such life you are entitled to do as you please as long as your actions do not directly or indirectly infringe upon the existence of someone else. Naturally, this includes your private property as well, for that which you have purchased or worked towards, created, or otherwise labored for, has been made yours. Liberty is to pursue happiness in any which way you deem necessary, and the opinions or misgivings of others should have no bearing on the decision to pursue such happiness. There really are not many laws we absolutely do need from an ideological standpoint when we look at this objectively. The laws we do need are those which serve the role of pursuing or maintaining personal liberty and property, without infringing upon the liberty of others. It is illegal to murder, defraud, steal, hurt, or deface the property of any other individual because they have the same rights as you. They are also entitled to live a life free from obstruction, coercion or personal loss. With all this being said, the actions and behaviors of others, whether you approve of them or not, should have no bearing on their ability to do them. Whether someone would like to own a scary black rifle with ridged plastic covers on it or not is none of your business. As long as they are continuing to mind their own business and not step outside of their personal rights endowed to them by their creator, god, then it should not bother you or anyone else for that matter that it is in their possession."

The War on Drugs: "The drug war in itself is unconstitutional and the idea that the state has any power to regulate what you can and cannot put into your body is a complete farce. Billions if not trillions have been spent arresting and locking up non-violent people for simply having something which occurs naturally in nature in their possession. Not to mention the hundred of thousands of people and pets which have been killed hurt or maimed due to the enforcement of the drug war. The main concern among those arguing against the drug war is Marijuana. Here is a substance that can be used as an intoxicating agent to pursue happiness. It also can produce countless medical benefits and cause autophagy in cancer cell growth. Which in essence means it causes cancer cells to commit suicide."

Marriage Equality: "Marriage is defined by whichever organization you choose to get married in and not by the state which you live in. No where in the constitution are there special privileges granted to the state allowing for a group of people to dictate who you can or cannot spend your life with. The very act of forcing someone else to do what you deem moral is an act of aggression and in violation of the rights of those in question. As a Christian who finds god through the bible and not through a church, I feel that people are on this world to procreate. We are here to be good to one another and support one another, while also multiplying. Most Christians and Jews will recall the multiple verses in the Old Testament: Be fruitful, and multiply.”

Gun Rights: "The second amendment has many different interpretations from what I have seen out of both our authoritarian biased news networks as well as our public officials. The exact words of the US Constitution’s Second Amendment are: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” However, the New Hampshire constitution was amended in 1982 to reiterate and spell out the Second Amendment in clear and certain terms. It reads thus: “All persons have the right to keep and bear arms in defense of themselves, their families, their property and the state.” This does not seem to have any reference to “militia,” which opponents to the second amendment love to use as the crux of their argument. In this great state, it doesn’t get any clearer. The right of the people to keep; own, and bear; to carry, possess, openly display, etc; ARMS shall NOT be INFRINGED."
