January 18, 2011
Tennessee: Judge William Dale Young (Tennessee) of the Blount County Circuit Court in Tennessee announced his retirement from office on January 16, 2011. He is 72 years old and has served on this court for 26 years. He stated, "I just feel like it's time to move on...I wanted to wait to be certain a Republican governor would appoint my successor, and now I want to just rest up and enjoy retirement." Prior to joining the County Court, Young worked as a private practice lawyer, legal counsel for a bank holding company, assistant district attorney general and chief of staff to Gov. Dunn. The Judicial Nominating Commission will review applications for Young's position and will submit three names to the governor, who will choose the new judge.[1][2]
