Court of Appeals Judge Bressler (reluctantly) retires
January 23, 2011
Hamilton, Ohio: Judge Harvey Bressler will retire from the Ohio Twelfth District Court of Appeals on February 8, 2011. The 71-year-old judge has passed the mandatory age of retirement in Ohio, but stated "I don’t want to leave." He further explained, “I absolutely love being a court of appeals judge...I love to sit down with the other judges and talk about the case, legal point ... trying to get to where a case should end up.” After working as a defense attorney (1968-1997), a county court judge (1981-1997) and a County Common Pleas Judge (1997-2004), he was elected to the Court of Appeals in 2004. Robin N. Piper, the current Butler County Prosecutor, was elected in November of 2010 to replace Judge Bressler on this court. Regarding his predecessor, Piper said, “He was always dedicated to being fair...He’s got a lot of style and class. And so much experience.”[1]
