Nebraska: Judge Theodore Carlson of the Nebraska Court of Appeals passed away last Saturday after battling cancer. After being diagnosed with cancer in November Judge Carlson had continued to work.
Fellow judges and the attorneys who appeared before Carlson respected him, said Nebraska Supreme Court Judge Michael McCormack, who was Carlson’s friend since law school at Creighton University in the 1960s.[1]
Carlson was appointed to the appeals court by former Governor Ben Nelson in 1998. He represented District 2, which encompasses most of Douglas County. Carlson had been a Douglas County district judge from 1983 until his appointment to the appeals court. He also had been an Omaha municipal judge and assistant city attorney since earning his law degree from Creighton University in 1968.[2][3]
The Judicial Nominating Committee will help in selecting Carlson's replacement and Governor Dave Heineman will have the final say.[4][2]
