Craig Crawford is a journalist and former Democratic communications specialist for Jim Webb's 2016 presidential campaign.[1] Crawford previously worked with the Orlando Sentinel as a reporter and as the Washington Bureau chief. He is the author of three books—Attack the Messenger (2005), The Politics of Life (2007) and Listen Up, Mr. President (2009).[2]

Career

Craig Crawford has worked in politics on campaigns as well as in the media. He was a campaign worker for Jimmy Carter, John Glenn and Walter Mondale in their presidential campaigns.[2] Crawford most prominently worked in the media as a national political correspondent. He spent twelve years with the Orlando Sentinel, first as a legal affairs correspondent and later as the national poltiical reporter and Washington Bureau chief.[3] Crawford also published The Hotline for the National Journal and was a frequent contributor to MSNBC.[4]

Since 2005, Crawford has also published Trail Mix, a political blog that serves as a news commenting forum.[2]

On November 19, 2014, Jim Webb was the first Democrat to announce a presidential exploratory committee.[5] On January 2, 2015, Politico reported that Craig Crawford had joined Webb's committee as the communications director.[1] Webb announced his presidential run on July 2, 2015, and suspended his campaign on October 20, 2015.[6][7]
